  1. Might be better asking this on the all about selling board as there can be serious issues and a lot more people will see it over thre...
  2. Interesting anecdotal. As a rejoinder, I have an acquaintance who owns around 30 properties in jesmond between 3 and 6 rooms and last time I met him in November he had just let the last property so had full occupancy but only a few months into term. I also think a few weren't completely full. Funnily, he was telling me that students and particularly their parents are getting a lot more demanding from the landlord - suppose when it's costing you a lot of your own money your gonna expect a better service.
  3. Is this so? Friend of mine worked for a company that went bust and when he went to,sign on they had no record of him and it turns out the firm hadn't paid any PAYE for staff for over a year so about 30 people had no NI conts etc for a year. But he didn't say they were after him for it. Surely they go after the employermand then write it off if their bust?
  4. Can't see this flying. The ombudsman isn't really interested in the risks of something going up and down (quite rightly) and only if that potential risk was explained - and documented.
  5. Remember that a lot of the agents/owners leave their boards up all year round, regardless of occupancy. Nice free advertising.
  6. When I see pictures like that and think of all shops on the high street and all previous and current girlfriends and mothers for who I have spent thousands of pounds on bits of gold. And then I think of places like India where even the poorest people will be adorned with tonnes of the stuff and it makes me think why it has any value at all - there's tonnes of the stuff!
  7. Not related to the OP at all but some nice looking predictions there. Some obvious ones that arent really predictions such as the US election but good call on the v narrow margin. You were pretty close today with greek default - it is in all but name. Can remember what else you wrote that i liked as im in the reply box now!
  8. http://www.darwinpay.co.uk/ I looked at using these a year or so back. Involved a loan from your company in the IOM. All sounded a bit Jimmy Carr at the time and thought it would risk a letter like this
  9. Yes what with being an island in the middle of the sea and Germany being pretty much landlocked
  10. http://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/mortgages/fsa-forbearance-could-leave-thousands-worse-off/1061253.article Vic Jannels says: “It is all very well making that point but, as I understand it, the FSA was instrumental in the issue of encouraging forbearance in the first place.”
  11. All I ever get is gold and property adverts. These are definitely not based on my searching history. These must be site specific. I do not search for gold or property.
  12. http://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/mortgages/newbuy-gaining-momentum-as-it-hits-1300-deals/1057524.article 'real momentum building' Which isn't surprising giving the tiny numbers nationally
  13. Like this one? http://www.darwinpay.co.uk/ Good if your earning around 50-100k. Any more than this and it probably worth finding your own friendly accountant to set your own up
  14. http://www.mortgagestrategy.co.uk/1054985.article?cmpid=MSE01&cmptype=newsletter&email=true&ern= Its easy enough to comment on this site also if anyone feels the need.
  15. http://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/mortgages/shapps-accused-of-misusing-housing-data/1052794.article Housing Minister Grant Shapps has come under fire from the opposition who have complained about his “consistent misrepresentation and misuse” of official housing and homelessness data to the UK Statistics Authority. . In a letter to the authority chairman, Shadow housing minister Jack Dromey lists six examples where he alleges Shapps misrepresented data. The figures range from the supply of homes between 1997-2010, rough sleeping and the cost of self-builds, reported the BBC. In one example, Shapps told parliament that the number of houses being built in England was rising by 25% 2011 compared to 2009, however government statistics showed that annual housing starts were down 4% in 2011 from the previous year. Dromey said he believed Shapps’ “casual attitude” is obstructing genuine public debate. Shapps (pictured) has dismissed Dromey’s letter as an “incomprehensible rant.” Shapps said: “Not only did his government fail to build more homes, despite the apparent good times, but they actually introduced programmes designed to destroy entire neighbourhoods. “Their housing market renewal programme bulldozed 10,000 homes, whilst only replacing 1,000. So, just to be clear, no-one did more to destroy our nation’s homes since the Luftwaffe bombs of World War II.” Earlier this year, Dromey accused David Cameron and Grant Shapps of telling the House of Commons private rents in the UK had been falling in February, when official data from LSL Property Services had suggested otherwise.
  16. Hi Guys - quick question - Friend of mine has been served a section 21 notice on the 22nd day of the month. He feels he that he should have the full 30 days plus 2 months notice but he is only getting 8(ish) days plus the 2 month. Is there anyhting he can do?
  17. Shocking behaviour - i truly hope you have the time and effort to see this through because if this is the case I would love to see someone get their comeuppance - the former owner could get stung unfailry for several K because of this - on top of losing his house!
  18. Hi - not sure if this should be in this topic but here goes. Friend of mine has been landed with a demand for 7 years worth of ground rent following the adminstration of the previous management company. They have asked fro ground rent from 2004 to today amounting to £1300. They say without proof of payment then the whole lot is due now and non payment may forfeit his lease. He has very little money and cant afford this in one go. Is this fair/legal etc? When does this sort of debt become statute barred? Thanks in advance
  19. Couple of my good friends have now left to move back to Manchester having spent the last 10 years since Uni working down there and now wanting to start a family, realised that they can ever afford more than his one bed flat. They dont have high paying jobs as have 'vocational' careers and have finally admitted that london is only for idealistic kids, those that earn a packet or welfare receipients
  20. I know a little bit about this industry and Im not sure what you are referring to here? If its debt managmenet plan then there is no end date until the debt is paid off. In the vast majority of cases interest and charges are susended when the creditor agrees to the plan. Only an IVA has a formal length/end date of 5 years and again the interest does not come after you at the end.
  21. We dont need more saving though do we? We need to drive the hordes of savings out as expenditure in the woder economy. Saving is so post war
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphalara_itadori Get some of these
  23. Just trawling through this old thread and although a lot of the links dont work anymore, it looks like this one may have sold for around 230k but 5 years later!
  24. http://www.mortgagestrategy.co.uk/1032830.article?cmpid=MSE01&cmptype=newsletter&email=true John Gummer, the former Conservative MP of Suffolk Coastal and the chairman of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries has claimed non-homeowners have no freedom. Speaking at the AMI annual dinner last night he said home ownership has been one of the main strengths of Britain. He told the audience: “Home ownership is the basis of freedom, people who do not own their own home do not have independence.” snip He adds: “Home ownership gives people who otherwise would not have a stake in society a real stake, it is the basis for any properly democratic system, it’s because people own something that matters that they are able to proceed.”
