  1. The rate of VAT is set by the Chancellor and the Treasury receives the proceeds so it is definitely within his personal power.
  2. I wonder if there's been a reduction in the number of agents? A 23% drop in the number of agents would have the same effect.
  3. I don't understand why you NEED a PS3, surely you just mean you WANT one.
  4. Just checked with my wife and £25 worth of vouchers will buy £100 worth of airport parking, £100 worth of entry to Drayton Manor Park etc. So it's not so mad after all. Andy
  5. I only saw the last part of last night's programme. Did the couple who renovated the seaside house and make a profit give a breakdown of their costs. All I saw was Sarah ask them and the guy replied that they'd spent £127,000. Sarah usually does a breakdown of the costs showing how much they've saved or overspent on each category but they just seemed to take his word for it last night. Or did I miss something?
  6. I looked in the local estate agent's window. They have 3 displays each of 16 properties, 48 in all. Of these 18 had the price shown as a sticker covering the original price. Of course, they could all be increases, but somehow I doubt it!
  7. 1) Private 2) £795 pcm 3) 4 4) Shropshire 5) £300k - Similar house sold after asking £335k, this one needs updating though.
  8. How about this one. Original price £400k and still on at that in one ad. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-469..._t=buy&chnl=buy or now with more pictures on at £350k http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-534..._t=buy&chnl=buy an 11% reduction.
  9. Hey DrBubb, that's my signature you're using!
  10. I'm seeing quite a lot of Sold signs going up in my area but also a lot of For Sale. Only to be expected, I imagine a number of people are making offers on the place they want to buy and then hoping to sell their own in the 'Spring bounce'. How many of these chains are going to complete? Don't expect to see many reduced yet, that'll come later when the expected bounce fails to materialise. This is going to be a long drawn out painful process.
  11. Just to add another one to the list. The house I'm would be priced at about £320k, another nearby is for sale at £335k, and I pay £795pm rent. Gives a nice p/e of 33.5, even worse for the landlord he operates through a rental agency (probably knocks 15% off his return). I'll be here for the rest of this year and probably well into next.
  12. The timetable is actually 18 working days. Day 1 being the Royal proclamation dissolving the old Parliament and Day 18 being the Polling day.
  13. Not more spin at all. It appears even rightmove are trying to talk the market down. I'd urge everyone to read it.
  14. Could we have a similar pamplet aimed at the sellers. This could warn them that the EA's will be forced to talk the market down and only vendors who reduce quickly and by a substantial amount are likely to sell. Might help prices to move in the right direction?
