  1. How about £260 *MILLION* for a four bedroomed detached...? https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-85717-nmm27m/royal-style-mansion-caesarea-il
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40874731 it's not a crash... It's a lull.
  3. Can anybody point me in the direction of any analysis that has been done on the implications for the EU with the UK leaving? - The change in income - The removal of the UK veto on decisions: Is there likely to be a flurry of re-introducing proposals that previously only the UK vetoed? - Further political instability in Europe - Other net +ve contributors to the EU wanting a better deal? Overhauling of the EU in order to keep them? - The impact of Brexit on the PIIGS? - Individual countries unhappy about the treatment of the UK (+vo or -ve) and either vetoing decisions relating to brexit, or wanting their own special deals to continue trading / supplying labour to the UK? - ...?

  5. https://www.theguardian.com/housing-network/2017/jul/25/no-fault-evictions-landlords-tenants Maybe not the end, but at least it's being acknowledged in the mainstream press.
  6. Not me, but IDS http://www.conservativehome.com/thecolumnists/2017/07/iain-duncan-smith-the-housing-crisis-demands-a-revolutionary-new-approach.html?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Tuesday 18th July 2017&utm_content=Tuesday 18th July 2017 CID_1645b1a0ae5152c42df413bc87ab49d5&utm_source=Daily Email&utm_term=The housing crisis demands a revolutionary new approach
  7. Interested to see what the consensus is on here
  8. One thing I've not seen mentioned anywhere is the risk of arsonists/terrorists exploiting the flammability of the tower blocks.
  9. Well, it's definitely NOT because of oversupply... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40581912
  10. Bloody hell!!! They are estimating 600 tower blocks! Even assuming 10 levels, 4 flats per level, that's 24,000 flats!!!

  13. Ah, that explains this BBC "news" article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37547912

  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35879099 So somebody in the UK, never having stepped foot into America, can be extradited to America to stand trial for alleged crimes according to American law??? I don't get it. If he's guilty of a UK crime, surely he should be tried in a UK court, to UK laws??
  16. Kirsty has been complaining about it on twitter, and I managed to get her ear...
  17. IRRO, Maybe you could branch out: metal cans on the street and taken down the scrap metal merchants will bring you cash.
  18. Asking 'when' is a bit like asking a blindfolded man who has been pushed out of a plane when he is going to hit the ground.
  19. Maybe not the right place to be asking this, but are there any carpet cleaning companies that anybody can recommend (or suggest to avoid!) in the Teesside area? I'm moving out of a rented accommodation, and need someone cheap who can do a "good enough" job.
  20. No chance of any help, as usual. Will just have to find a new place myself, and suck up the costs. Spoke to LL but didn't "confirm" per se - just said we were very unhappy the way they have gone about things. Wasn't rude, just matter of fact. Personally I think they have been screwed by the system (also with a way-over-the-top valuation for the house), but hey, I've now got my own problems to sort out. If I find somewhere else quickly, do I have to still pay the two months rent, or does it stop the month I move out...?
  21. Must be desperate - just had a text asking whether I'd "received the letter"...!
  22. So, the tenancy deposit scheme has been on the go for around 6 years now. What do people (Tenants and Landlords alike) think about it now?
