I won't be I didn't get any money that doesn't really exist.
Sorry. You'll have to get you own contract (meeting of minds) with injin.
-
Injin, could you do me a favour?
Go get a few million pounds of loans from a bank and give the money to me.
Then you can tell the bank why you are not going to pay them back.
Only then will I trust what you say. Then everyone's happy.

Rationing and shortages here we come.
The only way, the ONLY way is to scrap (not cap) HB, those landlords who can afford to take whatever the free market can pay will reduce rents. Those who cant will be repossessed. The price after repossession will fall to a level where yields are supported by the free market.
While I mostly agree, I'd perhaps give someone 4 months HB in any 3 year period as a safety net. But alas it's no longer a safety net.

And they put the guy just in from the job centre to do mission critical button pressing....
Look, if you try to delete a file in Windows, you are hit with a pile of "are you sures".
Are we saying these £1000 per day programmers never put an "are you sure...get supervisor code before transacting" warning in?
If you are given authority to use these functions in CA-7 then you can do what you want.
Someone who didn't know what they were doing were given such access.

not sure what a queue has to do with a reverse of a system, which was stopped.
and there was no backup of the queue?
methinks not.
sounds like the days scheduling was deleted (the queue) when they backed out the scheduler change. You could re-apply the schedule, but they probably didn't notice until the next day. It's all automated these days you see!

I guess the days of helping out your family are long gone.
Shouldn't the parents just give the house to the daughter if it's owned outright?
I guess it's now morally acceptable to screw the system.
Probably the type that also criticises where their tax money goes.

The star’s financial fall from grace is being dealt with in the UK after he relocated to Surrey with wife Gillian and their kids before Christmas.
Surely it would make sense that you have to be domiciled in the UK for say 3 years before eligibility for UK bankrupt laws. Otherwise, you default back to where you lived previously?
It seems people just pop into the UK knowing full well they are about to go bankrupt.

Nice one Ames,
Plenty of these house types in W-O-T and Stoke Bishop with ludicrous asking prices.
I have to bring a favourite of ours from the Bristol thread on to MOSH. I note there is no photo to the rear of the first floor. Where is the width for a bedroom and a Bathroom? Regretfully, even Bristol is falling victim to the "Developers" of Bijou Broom cupboards.

WTF is that meant to be.
Not sure why they bothered with the floor plan that doesn't include measurements.

...huh...no wonder nobody using it ...doing 90 was the whole point....
Watch out for toll road companies "lobbying" for increased speed limits on their patch because they have data which implies it is safer.

Even the front door looks sad.

It's a perfectly natural cycle
1. Cheap money and loose credit.
2. Influx of people to the land of milk and honey.
3. Government giveaways to all. Long tenure.
4. Greed.
5. Collapse.
We are now at the stage where short sighted people have completely forgotten steps 1-4 and wonder why 5 happenned.
Government at the time must do anything to keep unemployment figures down as this is a major influence on the voting of the masses.
It's frankly a disastrous system.

'But his fightback was marred by an extraordinary attack on him and George Osborne by Tory MP Nadine Dorries who branded them ‘arrogant posh boys’ who ‘don’t know the price of milk’.
In a separate blow to the Tories, a poll showed Mr Cameron’s three-point lead a month ago has been replaced by an eight-point lead for Labour.
Mrs Dorries told the BBC’s Daily Politics show: ‘There is a very tight narrow clique of a certain group of people and what they do is act as a barrier and prevent Cameron and Osborne and others from actually really understanding or knowing what is happening in the rest of the country.
I think that not only are Cameron and Osborne two posh boys who don’t know the price of milk, but they are two arrogant posh boys who show no remorse, no contrition, and no passion to want to understand the lives of others – and that is their real crime.’
Mr Cameron sighed when Mrs Dorries’ remarks were read to him later. ‘Look, I don’t agree with Nadine. She’s got a very strong view about a number of things, he said. ‘I go to Sainsbury’s in Chipping Norton on a Friday or a Saturday. I do a lot of the family shopping. Sam does a lot of it on the internet.’
Asked about the price of a pint of milk, he said: ‘I pay just under 50p.’
But in his most frank assessment of the Government’s recent performance, the Prime Minister admitted: ‘There isn’t a day in this job that I don’t learn some important lessons and you’ve got to make sure you stay in touch and realise that as you get on with it.’'
yaya, normally think that dorries is a loon.for once I agree with her.love that statement about shopping at saisnbury's.street cred tastic mate.
Any chance you can tell us where the millionaire millibands shop?

There's not a lot of info in that "article".

I thought everyone already went through the mis-selling of endownment phase and lots of people got compensation?

There's probably an interior door from the garage to the house.

While savers may be prudent and will be less at risk themselves at old age there is little benefit for the economy or society.
Are you being serious or deliberately obtuse?
Having been out of work a couple of times, my savings ensured that I didn't need any government handouts. Would you rather I'd spent all my money during the good times and had none left for the bad times (cf new labour)?
-
Since there is free movement of labour within the EU, it appears the EU has enough welders already.
What kind of trades does the UK have an excess of, which we can export?

I was in NY last week my hotel in midtown between 8th and 9th avenues. We would choose a bar/diner/restaurant in 9th avenue to eat of an evening, 9th Avenue is up and coming and becoming known as the new restaurant row in NY.
After about 6.30 pm it was difficult to get sat down anywhere on walk in, we would invariably have to wait for a table stood or sat at the bar (usually stood). People were even eating at tables outside with their coats on (some evenings were quite cold).
Everything seems to be booming stateside.....
Manhattan does not represent typical America.

Where else am I supposed to mount my cannon?
I fail to see how a house without this vital feature could be suitably fortified against French naval aggression.
Ha. Made me laugh.

What we learn from history is that expecting things to be different is a dangerous delusion.
You're welcome
Not really. We've learned how to build higher and higher buildings through the history of buildings. The fundamental goal of enhancing our species through learning to become non-violent is a much slower process.
-
With your extensive knowledge of history, perhaps you could give one or two examples of land ownership being taken without compensation where violence or the threat of violence has not been involved?
Thanks, that does sum up my position. As a species, we should learn from history, not repeat the bad bits.
-
Bloody Hell..........................
The WHOLE of nature operates on the principle of violence
And the WHOLE of human history is the history of various groups of humans getting what they want using violence
Has anyone on here even read a history book or watched the news lately??????
Are you suggesting that we continue our extremely violent evolution and kill all of the nobility?
I'd rather learn from history and not just read it. Id rather take away their privilege by non-violent means thank you.

You say that as if it's a bad thing.
Honestly (I say this as someone who was born in the USA), if you're so anti-monarchy, why not just move to America and see first-hand how well your republic of equals works in the real world? The US has devolved into a nation based on platitudes, hypocrisy and raw power -- complete devoid of any common sense or decency. And if you think that the US is just an outlier, there's plenty of other examples of republics ruled by venal, self-interested politicians who lack any sense of duty or respect (France, Italy, Greece???). For all its problems, the unwritten constitution in the UK has done a very good job of avoiding those pitfalls (though Tony Blair was a pretty close thing).
Having lived in both the uk and the USA, the are much the same. Common sense is devoid in both.
The uk just has the extra burden of bankrolling an extended family of elites.

More people in less space....what do you expect, what you see may mean more people can no longer afford to eat or drink out anymore, except on special occasions.....what you describe does not mean there is more money about, it could mean there are still the few that have more to spend, and far more have much less to spend.
I agree to a certain extent.
I believe it points to the argument of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
I've noticed a huge decline in the number of people on a Thursday night in Camden, which tends to be people living month to month. One night it was like a ghost town.
