The recent strong performance of UK shares is finally drawing private investors back to the stock market. The man in the street has missed out on about 80% of gains since the Footsie hit its nadir in March 2003. But small investors are now clamouring to get back into the market - sales of equity-based Individual Savings Accounts in February were up about 60% on last year at £131m.
