Housing shortage

There is currently no housing shortage in the UK, this is a myth.

There is an artificial supply problem due to the rise in popularity of second home ownership and buy to let. If there was a housing shortage then the basic economics of supply and demand would push up the cost of renting. As this hasn't happened and the cost of renting is relatively cheap then we can safely assume that there is no housing shortage.
