House of Commons Treasury Committee
The remit of the House of Commons Treasury Committee is to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of HM Treasury, HM Revenue & Customs, and associated public bodies, including the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority. The committee is formed of politicians from all main U.K. political parties.
This committee is presently conducting an investigation, entitled Financial stability and transparency, in to the events surrounding Northern Rock. As part of this inquiry it will take evidence from the Bank of England, Treasury, FSA and possibly some hedge funds.
