Grauniad: UK house prices rise for first time in five months

Halifax data say prices rose in May. Curiously the Graun does not refer to its own article a few days back reporting Nationwide data saying they fell. NW data were seasonally adjusted. Are the Halifax data? Are they both mix adjusted? Is it just sampling error on the back of low transactions volume? where is the signal in the noise?

We are all familiar with fake news. reading this article I am wondering whether we are entering the era of fake reporting. In the last two months i have seen more broken chains, people pulling out of deals post survey but prior to exchange and people reducing to sell than at any time since 2009. Maybe its just South West London or maybe there are other adjustments as well as seasonal adjustments going on.
