The government could shift a load of the (mainly non-working) benefit claimants from expensive properties in London, and use the saving from the housing allowance to pay unemployed construction workers for the renovation work. Saves money, reduces unemployment and increases the pool of social housing.
But no they had it to private enterprise instead.

The Irish ghost estates look like luxury in comparison to those slave quarters.

From the looks of it those empty houses are inhabitable and should be demolished and replaced with housing that meets peoples needs.

So, basically, government caused this. These houses were all lived in prior to the Pathfinder programme. They now claim these will be rented out below market levels but who is kidding who? They will still be way more expensive than their predecessors. Yet another government programme to increase the value and cost of housing.

In addition, the houses were probably primarily owned outright before, they will now be rented out. Is that progress? Really?
It is blindingly obvious to any thinking person that we need more factories. That means government reducing taxes and regulations and getting the heck out of the way.

the government do not give 1 sh&t about the public that is very clear, they are interested in their own self serving BS and the amazing gravy train they have had running for the last how many years, the same with councils , i was amazing at the "millionaire boy racer" tv program the other night the police basically said they are happy for those idiots to race around london in a dangerous manner because they bring money into area.. what kind of society is britain?
dumbed down public so they cant fight the elite, corruption at every level, everyone who has brains milking the dumbed down public for their tax money, what is wrong?

Indeed Mark. If government really cared about us they would slash spending and taxes.

Khards, yes, those Irish "tiger estates" always look nice on the pictures. But don't you mean "Uninhabitable"?
