This is a proposition that is debated

Intelligence squared: Only capitalism can save the planet

One for you engineers and other such clever people.
Although the whole debate is 1hour and 40mins, the 9 min video on Steve Keen's site is pretty good, in my view. http://www.debtdeflation.com/blogs/ then the first video. A few classic remarks but i let bloggers find them .
The debate is defined:
"Critics of capitalism have been crowing ever since the onset of the global financial crisis.
Capitalism has been blamed for nearly every one of the earth’s ills – poverty, pestilence, exploitation, environmental degradation, the lot!
Capitalism has been celebrated as the only cure for the earth’s ills – poverty, pestilence, exploitation, environmental degradation, the lot!"
Steve is against the proposition.....

The British Intelligence squared - offers a much better level of debate than the Australian version - thought it was quite poor in comparison. Still a million miles better than mainstream media such as questions time, so thanks for the post. Steve Keen is excellent - the other debaters where very second rate.

I have been to a few of the British debates which where excellent www.intelligencesquared.com - Mrs Number Cruncher & myself have been to the debates and often watch there debates on the web instead of watching mainstream media, we have even had dinner parties to watch them.

I am hoping to go to the one on Wednesday "THE MIDDLE EAST PEACE PROCESS IS A CHARADE?" http://www.intelligencesquared.com/events/the-middle-east-peace-process-is-a-charade

Did you see Stephen Fry - stunning:

TNC - Steve Keen is excellent full stop :). i couldnt like to Steve's own website [duplicate] which is why i had to go via this route, but i wanted to just show Keen's speech really.

I have watched the video above but whether i agree or not with the sentiments expressed by S. Fry, who should be respected if only for his diverse and detailed knowledge on a plethora of subjects, im not sure this is the right place for such a debate on the catholic church. i do love the bit when he is sitting down and "owns" Anne Widecombe.
