Rather amusing that in the print copy of the newspaper this article, with all its moans about the difference between SVRs and the base rate, is directly above a Santander advert for a Savings Account offering 2.5% above the base rate.
What do they expect the banks to do ? Offer higher savings rates than mortgage rates ?
It just proves the BOE rate is irrelevent.
