This´ll be interesting. Will it change anything?
"Even before he delivers Wednesday's speech, Mr Cable has responded to criticism levelled at him after excerpts
were released in advance." ... out the lobbyists come and in force.
Sad that its being branded as an attack on capitalism, rather than an attack on players who distort capitalism. There are companies who do well without Cable´s so called "murky" practices.

There is no fool like an old fool. This amounts to an attack on business by the business secretary.
Government - and especially BOE with very low interest rates - has had a massive hand in the current economic mess. They should get out, and keep out of the way. Business is already massively regulated - it's the regulations that are at fault.

"Why should good companies be destroyed by short-term investors looking for a speculative killing, while their accomplices in the City make fat fees? Why do directors forget their wider duties when a fat cheque is waved before them? Capitalism takes no prisoners and kills competition where it can,"
Good on you Vince !!

Its all talk. Cable is in danger of becoming a 2nd Brown unless he actually takes action instead of just feeding the press with soundbites.

C&C: "Sad that its being branded as an attack on capitalism, rather than an attack on players who distort capitalism."
Exactly. Capitalism based on abstractions of capital. Try eating abstract food for a week.

I shan't ask your age.
Curious isn't it. The raison d'etre for this site, the explosion in house prices brought about largely by unregulated credit, is populated by comments that belie this. Vince Cable, one of the few politicians that foresaw the problems, and who dares to challenge the hegemony of corporate Britain, is dismissed as just another pontificating MP. Well, perhaps his comments will have no other effect than attract jeers and sneers here and from CBI VIs, but at least he is saying something worth saying.
