The pubic sector still want a pay rise ?

BBC News: UK unemployment increases to 2.47 million

The number of people unemployed in the UK increased by 23,000 to 2.47 million during the three months to April, official figures have shown.
However, the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance fell in May by 30,900 to 1.48 million, the Office for National Statistics said.
It added that average earnings in April were 0.1% lower than March.
Some economists have warned that the government's planned spending cuts will further increase unemployment.

Can anyone interpret the reduction in claimants? Is it simply hiding them?

"The ONS added that the number of people classed as economically inactive - those out of work and not seeking employment - rose by 29,000 during the three months to April to 8.19 million.

This is the highest level since records began, and represents 21.5% of the working age population."

WTF?

1. You can only claim for 6 months before they take savings or a partners income into account
2. 8.19m not claiming, working or looking for work, effectively housewives/husbands, etc.

Of course they'll want a pay rise, keep their final salary pensions and cr*p on the rest of us who subsidise them

And before any smart ar*e slags me off, I'm not a fan of the Express but I believe in fairness for all members of society, therefore it's time for the public sector to take some of the pain that the private sector has experienced over the last 2 years.

@brickormortis
it could be that after 6 months these unemployed people cannot claim, only a few are entitled to mean tested benefits.I guess depending on the ratio means tested to 6 months benefits , there is either an increase or decrease.
