Bloomberg: U.K. House Prices Fall for Third Month in May as Supply Climbs

The average cost of a home in England and Wales fell 0.2 percent to 220,352 pounds ($323,000) from April, the research group said in an estimate released by e-mail today. Previously reported house-price gains for March and April were revised to declines as more transaction data became available.

I think we are at the end of the "return to normal" phase. From now prices will go down.

Nice one Alan!

£220,352 is the new average house price?

Take London and the south east out of the equation and its nowhere near that price.....you may be in for a shock.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION^823&maxPrice=220000&minBedrooms=2

Lets take a look at what £220,352 can buy you in Wales!.....this is just one area that is okish but the architecture is superb in the town.

I was going to show you guys a beauty of a property for 200k in rural Wales 3 bed with 3 reception rooms and open fires.....but I may put an offer in myself.

There are so many properties coming on the market in Wales its unreal....I know I check 6 different areas daily and know every house that comes up.......

AND GUESS WHATS HAPPENING TO THE PRICES!!!!!!!!.........Down they are a going.....DOWN.

Ok its not a great area at all because loads of idiots from the Midlands decided to make it home (I have nothing against anyone from the Midlands....but Llandridnod took a shite load of idiots from there).

but it could be a great area again and as I said....its a beautiful old spa town.....you really feel like your going back to the 1950s when you go there.

Hi TC, I'm checking those prices too, here seem to be quite a few very interesting properties arriving every day.
Prices must be and are heading down.
I estimate that in some reas the supply might be 4x higher.

What gets me is that this is amidst the so-called spring bounce.

Funny how the emergency austerity budget is set for ONE DAY after midsummer (i.e. 22nd June). DOWNHILL all the way to Christmas, and beyond!

Hi GTC

I let a house go in Dardy near Crickhowell with fantastic (Seriously) views 3 beds 2 reception rooms and workshop...........................................£160,000k!!!!!!!!!

http://www.homesonview.co.uk/Scripts/FullDetails.aspx?CID=CLEECRIC&AID=CLEECRIC&PID=CRP00306

I went to see the house and the pic does not do it justice......Someone else has now bought it and that is always good news..."Why is that good news?" I hear you cry.....because it will effect the prices of the surrounding houses if someone is trying to get a mortgage there they will be partly based on the prices of recent sales.

Here is a house less than half a mile away in the town centre with no parking and one less bedroom yet it is going for £240,000.....this just goes to show how detached some prices are from reality. The first house has nearly sold after being on the market for weeks yet the second house priced at £240,000 has been on teh market for about three years.

http://www.propertysell.co.uk/property/2342/crickhowell-cottage.html

Or there is this house which is going for £285,000 with 2 beds and 1 reception room still half a mile away in the same town.

And they wonder why the houses aren't selling........price your house right and it will sell straight away.

As I observed on Monday one my usual journey through cheshire, a route I tread once per week and quite frankly I am amazed how many over developed former two up two down former farm workers cottages, barn conversions and other rural and semi-rural blinged out properties with humungous conservatories and the obligatory 4x4/BMW/AUDI have suddenly got for sale signs up outside.

TC that house did look good!
My plan is to return home in 3-5 years. Oddly, Colombia is a very good place to be right now.
I think tat by that time the prices should be at a low point in the cycle.
I'd like to live in the land of my father's - Wales or the border country.
Maybe you could give me some advice on this and give me a few tips?

I'd like a detched place in the country, some space around.
