BTL mob want more of your tax
Guardian: Rent arrears double in two years
"Worst-hit are landlords in the commuter belt of London's suburbs." So the London-is-booming BS is finally over then?

With interest rates at 0.5% renting is more expensive than buying, which makes me wonder whether the people who are now renting are those less creditworthy and therefore more likely to default on rent.

"The research also shows that two-thirds of landlords don't intend to change the price of the rent charged to tenants in the next three months."
And a thousand rental tenants say to themselves in response "Well that's handy because I don't ever intend to be short of money ever again."

"Cutting the soaring bill for LHA, claimed by 4.5 million people, is likely to be a priority for the new government as it tackles the budget deficit."
Is nobody else rather surprised / shocked to see that 4.5 million people are in receipt of Local Housing Allowance? Does that include council or housing association tenants? Given that there are ~48 million adults in the UK, that's almost 10%. Certainly far higher than the unemployment figures.

Drewster.......not much shocks me anymore in this corrupt cesspit, but I am certainly alarmed that 4.5m receive this benefit. So mug rump council tax payers subsidise BTL landlords so that they obtain more rent than a free market would bear, enabling said landlords to buy up more property using this 'protection money', to get further mortgages, with tax relief at up to 50%.
