What emergency budget???

The Telegraph: Tax cut worth at least £140 in this summer’s emergency Budget

The tax-free personal allowance will be raised by at least £700 to more than £7,000 under plans by the Liberal-Conservative coalition — a move that will benefit an estimated 25 million lower-paid workers and pensioners.
Anyone earning more than £35,400 will be worse off due to the planned rise in National Insurance contributions.

So DINKY's could earn £70k between them and be better of, than an individual earner with salary of £36K supporting a wife and several children.

Still doesn't seem quite right.

That's about right for politicians of any hue, they fail to understand the circumstances of real life.

Why stop at DINKYs. Under Labour you could have supported a wife and several children and got £61K in benefits without bothering to work at all. Now that definitely doesn't seem quite right.
