What do council workers do for this money...??

Daily Telegraph: More than 50,000 council staff receive more than £50,000 a year, Telegraph survey finds

I don't suppose this includes the freelancers on 2k per day...

sit on their 9rses, go home at 4pm and get fantastic pensions at 55.

On a more serious note, the average public sector salary is now HIGHER than the private sector.

IMO this can be blamed on "head hunter" recruitment "consultanices" pushing up the top end jobs with their BS
and commissions.

Tom101, which "freelancers" do you know in 2k per day ?

Did you mena the idiot wet behind the ear grads that large US [IT] consultancies charge out at
2-4k per day.

[IT] Freelancers get nowhere near this, and are under constant attack from the HMRC under the hateful IR35 that ... suprisingly
the same large US [IT] consultancies lobbied for. Wonder why.

There are lots of fine public servants who earn 50k + a year and deserve every penny.

the number cruncher

I'm sure there are, but I can't help agreeing with doomwatches first line.

I know one and they do clock watch and have very good holidays and spend all day having meetings about things most private companies could agree and implement in a few minutes.

I think this last labour government has created so many jobs to do and have been soooo pc that it's now gone way beyond a joke.

It's going to take a long time to straighten things out again.
