Yahoo: CBI May retail sales slump to 14-month low

The CBI said bad weather, a slow down in the housing market and higher prices were to blame for the year-on-year fall in sales during the April 27-May 12 survey period.

And the jitters in the housing market were caused by the snow. Must be the snowball effect then.

I didn't see any bad weather in that period. In fact today is the first rain I've seen in ages.

And I thought M&S profits were just announced as up.

Bizarre.

They could always ask the bank of england to lower interest rates to encourage spenders back onto the high street.....

oh wait they have been low for ages.... but but but........

No way out now. If the country cannot be encouraged when rates are this low then the whole system is screwed.

So despite trying to makes money worthless via QE, ZIRP and Devaluation people are not keen on blowing it down the high street. Marvellous. The solution therefore must be more printed money, the base rate put down to 0.000001% and parity with the Dollar?
