Sod gold! my boy will much prefer the real investment I made in the allotment this weekend.
I dug in some sand for the herbs after a solid manure I did earlier this week.
I sowed some lovely strawberries, tomatoes, herbs and lettuces.
This coming week i will be mostly sowing veg.
The hedge I prepare is far better surrounding my allotment...

@Number Cruncher.
The way Gold vs agricultural land is headed you will be able to buy a lot of allotment for your gold.
Agricultural land may not hold its own if a cash strapped EU cuts farming subsidies.
I have remained on the sidelines about gold for the past few years but held a healthy interest on the debate....but now I am out of the closet.
Gold Gold Gold.
By the way your doing the right thing with the allotment.

The way things are going nothing will be certain.
We are heading for uncharted waters.

Cool. Brown will sort out the global economic mess as the IMF advisor, just as Tony Blair sorted out the Israel-Palestine conflict as Middle East envoy.

Oh good. So Brown's going to sort out 3rd world debt - just like he sorted out the UK economy? The poor sod's.

If he were to take this job he could make pompous speeches to Cameron ,Clegg and co about their conduct of British economy in the full knowledge that they could n't do much about it.In the same way that the HPC cut-credit crowd are always banging on about credit restriction being the best way to bring down house prices and hence slagging off Brown who did know enough about credit not to risk putting the whole economy into a so-called 'death spiral'.

Not for the status........like PM was not for the status. I think he is embarassed by his lust for position. He is a very poor but compulsive liar who seems to believe his own lies.

OMG! Putting brown in charge of the IMF would be akin to putting an arsonist in charge of a fire brigade.
For gods sake, get this clown out of the lime light, his falseness and transparent lies are shaming our nation!

It's only a matter of time before GATA cite this as a scare story designed to suppress the gold price.

I thought that it may well bolster the gold price :)

gordon brown claimed on gmtv with his wife he would do charity work if he lost the election, this was clearly a con in order to coax more votes out of people..

He'll have to change his tune from "deficit spend to keep up demand and economic activity" to "cut your deficit to keep the creditors onside". Or will it be the first for the countries where the big banks are based and the second for the countries that have borrowed from those banks?

Since when did the IMF 'relieve world poverty'?? Rather than cause it with its f*****g structural adjustment policies, forced privatisations, public spending cuts etc. etc. in 'developing' countries? Get real.

So GB still thinks he can save the world...!
Whilst I'm not sure that Cameron can actually veto GB taking the IMF top job; I'm pretty sure that if he didn't have our Dave's support, they'd look for someone else..
..more to the point, I don't think that GB is remotely well qualified for the job..

Hang on a minute here - Mr Brown already has a job which should easily occupy 100% of his time
Mr Brown was returned with an increased majority and confirmed today that he would continue to sit as a backbench MP.
He said: ''I wanted to be clear – I want to be doing what is my first love in politics and that is to serve the people of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath and all the communities in this area, and to continue to do that with your support over the next few years.''
He revealed during his five-minute speech that he had done his ''first major interview'' with the Fife Free Press and was now holding surgeries as an MP.

jack c - the IMF job doesn't come up until 2012. That gives him two years to serve his constituents. In politic-speak two years is "a few years".
19. icarus said...
...and if that doesn't convince he can always fall back on Machiavelli's "the word given was a necessity of the past, the word broken is a necessity of the present".
20. jack c said...
icarus - I take your point, however we are already roughly half way through 2010 and consequently GB doesnt seem to be giving much of a commitment to the people of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. Same old story - say one thing and then do another. No wonder people are Pee'd of with politicians generally.

'No wonder people are Pee'd of with politicians generally'
Somebody mention me?
I just thought I'd add that anyone who thinks he can successfully tackle world poverty is delusional. There will always be those who eke out an existence on the fringes of society - it's how nature works.

Not being content with bankrupting the UK; Mr Brown has set his sights on bankrupting the world.
