Anarchy cool ordering my gunpowder now

Independent: Brown worst ever PM, says Labour candidate

"And if you look at it, the average person has really got no respect for the Government and really we are moving towards not a government system but more towards anarchy, and that is very, very dangerous."

I don't know aboout PM, but he was a pretty bad Chancellor. But the fact that so many countries have or had housing bubbles and illusory booms built on debt (Spain, Ireland and even parts of the usually stable Scandanavia... ) makes me suspect that this was bigger than one political party and one man within it. As for the reflate the bubble strategy, you only have to look down under in Oz where the unsustainable housing bubble was given one last gasp with the government's grant for first time buyers to...so the insanity is not uniquely Brownian, Labour or even British.

The only surprise here is that this story is in the Independent rather than the Express/Mail/Torygraph. There's no analysis behind his remarks. The guy is either a loose cannon or a Tory shill.

Maybe it's because the Independent doesn't like the way New Labour has trampled over people's freedoms and criminalized normal ordinary people during the last thirteen years.

Don't be silly sovietuk, it is not Gordon's fault and remember you can't blame the Labour party and oh yes one more thing, it doesn't matter who you vote for so don't vote, unless you have something to gain financially by voting Labour, then it is okay for you to vote Labour.

Anyway zzzzzz

@3 - The best way for the Independent to get that point across is to say it.

The worst PM ever is usually the incumbent, so this is just a case of a PPC voicing the same thoughtless opinion as a partisan member of the electorate. I wonder whether this candidate's potential constituents would welcome as an MP someone who so enthusiastically dumps on his own doorstep.

So we're still blaming politicians for the problems intrinsic to government.

Good post.

Had Brown had the backbone to resist the Credit Expansion the same way the British Govt stood firm against joining the Euro the UK would be in a far better position. Unforgivably and very arrogantly he fell for the new paradigm group-think most other governments fell for.

There were a few lone voices in the wind who warned him, but tragically we were ignored.

I hope the candidate gets elected. We need people who will shout "The King has no clothes" in Parliament.
