Will the general election affect much in property world?
HIP Consultant: How election outcomes could affect the property market
With the General Election just around the corner, the final outcome is still difficult to predict. Difficult, do you mean almost impossible? Will the issues mentioned really be much of a priority especially if we get a hung government, I mean parliment.

I think labour lost the election today, after Gordon 'brains" Brown called a voter a bigot, this shows what they really think behind the scenes

GB has maintained all along it was a 2 horse race - looks like it will be now (Conservative vs Lib Dem) with Labour out of the running - I bet the Labour lot are really wishing they had dumped Crash G when they had the chance.

The woman in question Gill Duffy said "All these Eastern Europeans, where are they coming from?"
Err, Asia maybe?!

If you were an old school Labour supporter, would you be heading down the street this afternoon to stuff more of Labour's dishonest scare sheets through people's doors..
..or would you be thinking "let's have a cup of tea instead"

It's a shame Gordon can't apologise for creating a generation of misery by not reversing Thatchers Assured Shorthold Tenancy housing act
and failing to provide tax legislation to prevent propertly speculation, and regulation of mortgage madness.

The bloke is more like a clown than a primeminister, he's now driving backwards and forwards to Mrs Duffy's house. It's like a comedy.

Still a full 24 hours to the next debate though. I'm sure it will have blown over by then :)

I'm hardly his biggest fan but it appears to me that he was factually correct and the woman was a bigot, so how can we pillory him for saying so?

At last, someone has made the vital link. The linchpin.

Why was she a bigot? Just cos you don't want loads of foreigners taking over the UK doesn't make you a bigot does it? - What is wrong with wanting to preserve national identity and look after those immigrant friends we already have? Adding more foreigners just gives fuel to the racists in our society. However what it does show is how two faced the guy is. He was really nice to her face and then went on the slag her off behind her back. Therefore he says one thing in public and another in private. This is not good practice for a politician.

Me thinks that if Gordon behaved and spoke in public more like he did in the car, he might be far more popular.

What did she actually say though? I don't like brown, but it doesn't seem like he said anything catastrophic. Very interesting piece of audio though.
I like the new term "interVined" :)

oh deary me - what a prize tw8t. Whatever he thinks he should know better than to express it.
I feel sorry for "Sue".
As i have said before its just the contempt that they have for the people they supposedly serve thats gets me.
Bit like freddie and the newcastle board for taking the pi55 about the supporters wearing the black and white shirts.. mind you they still do dont they....

Wadsworth,
If this woman is a bigot what does that make UKIP/BNP voters ? And what does it make UKIP/BNP candidates -

I'm in agreement with Mystie010 - To question mass immigration is not bigotry. Clearly Brown thinks anyone who questions his beliefs is a bigot... pot kettle black I think.

"Bit like freddie and the newcastle board for taking the pi55 about the supporters wearing the black and white shirts.. mind you they still do dont they...." Just stop and ask yourself what Osboune & Cameron say in back of car..."Christ, bloody tiresome oiks. Wish they'd bu33er off back to B&Q and start spending on barbeques or whatever they do when the sun shines...What's my Barclays stock doing George?" But that's okay 'cause half the posters on this site seem to believe a Tory election win will somehow engender a policy of 5% interest rates and a pugative HPC! Yeah... the Tories really want that to happen! And these same folk make comments about Browns intellect and call HIM a clown!

Long before the expenses scandal broke - see my post on this link www.housepricecrash.co.uk/newsblog/2008/05/blog-mps-see-through-official-inflation-figures-fiddling-13038.php

clockslinger - absolutely! thats the point, they all hold the people they supposedly serve in contempt.
Jack Ha'way. I thought my comparison was ne bad like. my point is even though they hold us in contempt, we will still line up to vote on the sixth due to some misguided belief that it actually makes a difference. The only difference it makes it the distribution of wealth (or lack of it).

Typical Brown as mentioned above...just shows publically what journalists like Andrew Rawnsley have been saying for a while.
I am pretty worried about price of my house suffering after the election...quite a hefty mortgage which I don't want to have to rejig regarding loan to value.
Think I need to buy some precious metals as a hedge. Anyone here got any recommendations as how to do this here?
After quite a bit of reading, I think platinum and palladium might be worth a crack.
