In a club owned by debt-ridden Americans?

Independent: Brown: UK economy like injured Rooney

So the UK economy is like Rooney. It just suffered a bit of ligament damage and will soon be back as good as ever.

I think it's more like Stanley Mathews RIP.

Presumably what Brown is hoping for is that Coleen will go out on a shopping binge with some other WAGS and help rescue the consumer based economy he's worked so hard to create.

Brown has loads of people thinking up ways to show he is really in touch with normal people.

I'm surprised he hasn't declared war on some hapless country, then appealed to our patriotism to "stick together". The sooner he goes, the better.

I can't see an easy answer to the UK's debt problem. It will be painful for many people.

I hope he doesn't declare war on some hapless country, with his track record we'd end up losing.

Alternatively is Labour under Brown like a bent footballer who has taken a bung from a criminal cartel in order to throw the match and consign the team to the Vauxhall Conference?

@7... lol. Only Portsmouth have more chance of recovery to the top flight within the next few years.

If we're talking in football analogies, then surely if a team has under-performed as much as the UK has been, then the manager and his team should have been sacked a long time ago!!!

Time for a new manager.

The UK economy was not built on skill, it was built on sand. We have a Paul Gascoigne on our hands, not a Wayne Rooney.

its this kind of lack lustre populist BS that really makes me think that talking heads like brown should be killed for the benefit of the country. Do they actually contribute ANYTHING?
