A nasty surprise...

Telegraph: A nasty surprise for would-be inheritors of parents' homes

There is something sad, bad and slightly mad about adults who actively anticipate inheriting their parents’ home. Perhaps it is a sign of how desperate many people’s financial problems are.

I expect absolutely nothing out of life, even after hard work. That way I am never disappointed and everything I do get is a bonus.

If both my parents died tomorrow, after inheritence tax, the six of us would probably get around £85 k each if split evenly. However, my father has rightly allocated more to the younger three since they have student debts and no assets (unlike us older three). Even so, I would forfeit my share on the grounds that my father and I have a great deal of respect for one another but vastly different world views; it wouldn't be right for me to take his money and go on to buy things like private schools or health insurance which he is so opposed to.
When the time comes I hope I am strong enough to live up to this!

It's a sign of how outpriced of the housing market most first time buyers have become.

More of a financial shock for the care system, which seizes homes to pay for unfunded old age care.
