Pound at the edge of a cliff (Citywire)

Citywire: Pound continues falling as UK debt worries pile up

Sterling remains under pressure this morning after its largest fall in months yesterday as markets continue to fear the government will struggle to tackle the UK's debt worries. In early deals, the pound was down another cent against the dollar at $1.4914. Yesterday the pound posted its biggest one day fall in over a year. It hit 25 year lows against the Australian dollar and ten month lows against the dollar.

The prospects of a hung parliament = scare tactics to get people to vote for the City's preferred candidate. Notice this is now the order of the day - stop a hung parliament at all costs. Why do we have to have violent swings in the pendulum all the time?
I say look at the candidate in your area and find out how they represent YOU - vote for the person that represents YOUR views. Don't listen to VIs. I will be looking at ALL candidates despite it being a staunch Tory area - I want a credible candidate who represents ordinary people - if this is the Tory candidate then so be it.
I hope people will seriously think about how they vote - not blindly voting for this LabCon because of blind dogma. As for the pound...it appears to be doomed no matter who gets in. ...Thanks Penfold!

That is exactly right in my book but how many people are capable of seriously thinking about how they vote?

The old joke about voting for a donkey with a red rosette in Barnsley or a blue rosette in Henley on Thames is as true as ever.

Vacuous - There is no one that fits the bill for me - they all want to take office permanently - not a single candidate that proposes even a gradual reduction their own position. (Of course I will still vote and I will still give it thought - I hope others do too.)

@alan - No I don't mind. It comes from all those politicians who don't represent ordinary people. There are a huge number of self-serving, spin (lying) obsessed charlatans who get seduced by power and trappings and don't give two hoots about the people they actually are supposed to serve... or have the independance of thought ...and the integrity to vote on what they believe is right or wrong due to party politics. There are a few honourable politicians out there but you have to look really hard for them. Tony Blair was the ultimate vacuous politician ...and unfortunately I see Cameron as his worthy successor. I hope I'm wrong but I'm afraid it is all so predictable...

@ mr g - lol Yes it's very disappointing to see this sort of stupidity. Maybe we should be generous...they might be "nice" people!

@666 - No unfortunately me neither ...and there-in lies the problem. This is a great shame. However I will study all the policies (if they exist?) and go along to some public forums (if they have them)...then vote for the one that is the closest to my beliefs and represents me. Common sense is what we need not outdated dogma.

The lesser of a choice of evils is still an evil, and no choice at all if they worsen the current conditions; this is the curse of Socialist Democracy, especially with a poorly educated, ill informed, and state dependent population, such as here!

The only rational strategy to fight such a rotten system, until it it is reformed or replaced, is to always vote out the current candidate, and party, every election, so none get comfortable and none can easily make a career out of it!

I don't see any party of worth getting significant votes and see no indication of the above strategy in-use locally or nationally, so see no point in voting for, thus consenting to the current system.
