Like a choir of Angels to my weary ears

Sunday Times: House price slide could be start of longer downturn

Not new but still nice to hear:
“New buyer inquiries dropped sharply in the new year and there was also an associated drop in the number of new mortgages taken out by homebuyers in January. At this stage, it is difficult to gauge how much of the drop in housing activity is attributable to one-off factors.”

Funny how it's not the usual Times' cheerleaders on house prices like David Smith or Becca O'Connor.

some good comments. The housing market has been bled dry and every last morcel of meat has been scraped of he bone, I hope now we can get back to reality but I am still a little doubtful.

everything is there to show houseprices are unsustainable....even our pals in US have had a 35% correction from a lower level and prices are still falling...in some areas of detroit prices have fallen 90%

I remember in 1995 seeing prices in liverpool for a tarraced house at £3-£4,000.....my uncle sold his mums house in welsh valley for under £7,000....now suddenly all prices around the country are roughly the same £100-£200k everywhere...probably thanks to the internet

Its gonna be very very painful

and in 1995 you could buy a brand new house from Crest on a green field site in Hampshire for £52000.
