Scotland 'could be getting too much cash' after topping UK affluence list
CALLS for the Barnett Formula to be scrapped were rejected last night despite research finding Scotland is now the most affluent country in the UK.
A report from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation showed Scotland has more people in employment, higher levels of income and fewer families living below the poverty line than most English regions, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Scotland (a province) keeps Britain afloat.
Look at the real figures - about the great wealth that comes out of Scotland (to England) then look at the incomes of Scots compared to Brits.

These comments are pish and getting away from the real issue i.e. there are many working people in Scotland and England, who can't afford to buy their own home directly because of the policies of New Labour and the Tories. People in both countries have been let down.

I’m Scottish, I worked in the Oil Industry – up and down the coasts of the UK [incl. Ireland]. It is “Great British oil” – end of story!
