Now if we can get the masses to think along these lines, when it come's to housing !
Yahoo: Christmas number 1 revealed
OK then, only teasing. We'll confine ourselves here to the facts of what has been a quite extraordinary week. 'Killing In The Name' by Rage Against The Machine scores a sensational berth at Number One for Christmas with a total sale of 502,000 leaving X Factor 2009 winner Joe McElderry trailing with a still impressive total of 451,000 copies.

horrrah!
Who knows, maybe the feeble minded 'nose led' youth of today might buy some RATM albums, might listen to the lyrics, might become rebellious? Stranger things have happened.
After all, there are one or two things that they might become quite pissed off about should they ever develop a political consciousness.

I hear both artists are signed up with Sony BMG. I wonder who's idea this contest was?
Oh, hello Mr Cowell - is that a new ferrari you have there? Very nice.

I can just see the meeja daahling, headset on, clipboard in hand saying to them "Now you promise not to swear, right?" and the band all nodding and crossing their hearts. She walks off, the band says Just like we rehearsed it lads ...

RATM, a band of self important, embittered old gits, rather like a lot of contributors to HPC.

This whole stunt was created by Sony BMG, the record label of both RATM and Joe McElderry. The fake 'grassroots campaign' was in fact a manufactured chart battle which has helped ensure huge sales for both RATM and the X-factor winner, whose single has sold more copies than if it had just been released without all this year's hype. Far from weeping into his cornflakes tomorrow morning, Simon Cowell will be celebrating a yet another financial windfall for his Syco subsidiary.
Yet another example of how easily the doltish British public are manipulated.

I agree with little professor. The masses are in the hands of the Media. My only consolation is that I don't watch any of these programs, I don't buy Tabloids.
But I'm at odds with the world.
A self-important, embittered old git? baaah!

The profits of this went to help fund youth bands & to shelter, which at least is of a good cause..
@ LP if a concious seed can be planted into the youth, wether a stunt or not, hopefully that will grow into something new or a different view on what life in Britain can be.
@ Mr g, F**K You i won't do what you tell me... Come on sing along ' it's Xmas..LOL

When does a free market become a self fulfilling prophecy?
When people keep arguing wether jumping off a cliff will result in broken bones of death.

or death, even.

@ Crunchy .When does a free market become a self fulfilling prophecy?
When people wake up from there slumber, & realise we have been on a ride..As Bill Hicks said "it's just a ride"

happymondays@8 No need for the obscenity.
The point I'm making is that like many contributors to HPC, RATM are middle aged (ranging from 38 to 45 years of age), no doubt financially secure, have nothing to do but gripe and are able to do so without harassment.
Whatever one may feel about the USA or indeed most of the so called western world, there are far worse societies to live in. You can still publish subversive material without being harassed or worse, unlike Russia, China, all the Islamic world, etc, etc.
It's very easy to feel outraged about Guantanamo, Bush, Rumsfeld etc from the comfort of your PC or whilst reading the Guardian or Independent but when "nasty" things, (7/7 for example), happen closer to home then it's a different story. Nimbyism comes to mind.

"The climb" lyrics seem to be a sad reflection of this younger generations financial oppression. Does it all have to be so bloody hard?
"it's just a ride" For how long? No wonder the young have little to do but get plastered on their dead end streets that lead to nowhere.
'The profits of this went to help fund youth bands & to shelter, which at least is of a good cause..' A step in the right direction. : )

*Not everyone fits into your nice little sentence & if people had more thought about future generations, maybe wee will not have the venom which will come this way in the not so distant future..

*Go and protest outside parliament & see how long before you are moved on or arrested..You think you have free will?

*Next you will be telling me that we are in Afghanistan to protect the streets of London..

15. happy mondays Damn right ! No matter where you are viewing all this from, the injustice can't be ignored.
Nimbyism in it's most extreme. Mr Goff.
