Looks like most FTB's have now been sucked in

BBC: First-time house buyers 'at year low'

The proportion of home buyers who are purchasing a house for the first time has dropped to its lowest level this year, figures show. The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) said that 19% were first-time buyers in November. This was down 3% on the previous month and the smallest proportion since November 2008, the NAEA said.

@ Jack C, it's not just that FTB's are a tiny proportion of all buyers, but that the number of buyers/movers has fallen. It would be good to know in absolute terms how many people bought their first property (bearing in mind about half a million couples/households reach FTB age every year). I know we have discussed this before and not even the lenders really know as they define FTB's differently.

Hi Mark - agreed very difficult to truly define - for example you have made no secret on here in the past that you are renting however if you were to purchase again in the near future and required a mortgage to part fund the property I could ligitimately state on most lenders application forms that you were a FTB (the definition being in most cases that you have not held a residential mortgage in the last 12 months)

Taking a broad view of what is a FTB I am hearing on the grapevine a similar story to that of the article

All I ask is that you spead the word once you are convinced.

Harder than it sounds, but it is yours and everyone elses duty, if indeed it's truth that serves.

Convince me, and I will spread the word. Give me the two most authoritative and comprehensive links you have that cover separately firstly the political/economic scam motive, and secondly the scientific lies. If they must be mixed together, so be it, but not some generic conspiracy rant. Take your time choosing them, please. Make or break time.

But how many FTBs are there compared to May, when sales volumes were lower? Perhaps it's about the same or only dropped slightly, which would indicate that the rest of the increase in sales volumes might have something to do with BTL chancers jumping in and supporting the end of chains? But who knows, since the BBC can't be @rsed reporting figures properly.

Yes, you've convinced me that global warming is a conspiracy with your hard evidence of snow falling outside your window in winter

"Prince Charles why is it snowing outside my window?"

Lmao! Dude, you need a break. Weren't you heading Med-wards? Or is that where it's snowing? Your above sentence suggests that if someone took a step in a northerly direction, they would therefore be on a journey to the north pole. Have you had a stroke recently?

Phd, I don't think you've taken into account the fact that it could be an unusually warm winter, in which case snow would indicate falling temperatures!

Sorry Crunch, I misunderstood, I thought
"All I ask is that you spead the word once you are convinced."
meant you were going to continue trying to convince. My mistake.

"your little mind" - a reference to previous "little grasshoppers" ?

Presumably, if climate change is natural, you also object to cancer treatment, bypass surgery, toothpaste...?
