Crikey, he's changed his tune. But he still doesn't know what he's talking about. Stamp Duty Land Tax is, apart from being a tax on property (hooray!) discourages buying and selling and hence discourages inefficient use of land (boo!). Can't we just skip straight to proper LVT?

LVT is a crock, it is just another Socialist money redistribution scam, so it will end up unfairly hurting lots of productive and retired people, not just speculators, and reward unproductive people and bad government. If people don't get good services, in an area, and do nothing to change it, they get what they deserve, so Socialist redistributed extra funds their just rewards incompetence! If we ever get LVT, a whole raft of government taxes, and other fees, would have to be abolished to offset it, but that will never happen, due to political corruption and greed, so it would become just another excuse to extort money from people!
What we need is smaller government, thus less government expenditure, then government would not need more 'innovative' taxes, like the variously dishonest carbon taxes e.g. carbon credits, cap & trade, HIPS, etc., or LVT, to pay for their financial negligence, overpriced social services (which distort the market and cause parasitic dependence), and greed for power!
