First stocks now auction prices point to slow down

Andrew Brigden, senior economist at Fathom Consulting, said: 'The discount available on properties sold at auction, relative to prices charged on the conventional market, has been on a rising trend since the spring.
'At a little over 20%, this discount is significantly above its long-term average. And yet the lenders' indices continue to record monthly gains in the average price of property sold on the conventional market.
