Decipher this - is Gordon set to run to the polls?
Times: Recession over, says Gordon Brown, as he attacks ‘privileged few’
Quote; "The recovery is still fragile, and it needs to be nurtured in the interests of those who were hit hardest by the recession, the people on middle and modest incomes who don’t want any special favours. They simply want a bit of help to own their own home, set up their own business and give their children the best start in life."

His heart's in the right place...
As is Obama's.
Both family men, you see.

I haven't been able to open Times links for days. Is it just me?

tpbeta - count yourself lucky. I can't contemplate opening the link in case the article is full of Brown BS. A fat one eyed scotsman, having priced out an entire generation and ruined the economy, wants us to beleive that he help the middle to lower earners to own their own home! I think it would make me too angry.

Go in through google news - looks like the times doesn't like links direct from HPC!

Go to The Sun. Same stuff, just longer articles for middle class people

Can see it on Google news but can't link to it. Is it just me?

As for the headline question, I think yes and I can't work out why he didn't go before Christmas

I can't open the link either, via HPC. Also having trouble finding the article on timeon-line.

Times link on the next post (Subliminal messaging) seems to work ok. Perhaps the Times have pulled the article for some reason??? I really would like to read it now!.

Times has pulled the article!
The Guardian has a similar report with the same quote although it is a rather sanitised with the title; Gordon Brown: Recovery will lead to 'decade of shared prosperity'.
See http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/dec/29/gordon-brown-recovery-prosperity

They put it back a few minutes ago. A slightly disorganised leak, no doubt they wanted it in the Guardian before Murdoch's rag

Ring of confidence: Gordon Brown promises "decade of shared prosperity"
Must be referring to a brown ring!!
Promises - Ha - He wouldn't know one if it sneaked up behind him and buggered him senseless. A bit like what the gov't have allowed the financial institutions to do to the general public and UK economy. (Faint call of 'No more boom or bust' heard in the background).

It won't feel like the recession is over if you are made redundant as unemployment continues to rise during 2010. On a lighter note, I'm looking forward to Brown losing his job whenever he decides to go to the polls.

Re: Brown
I wouldn’t mind the buffoon getting another term, and see how many more lies he tries to spin. Whoever gets in, it is going to be a fatally poisoned chalice. It’s going to take decades to unravel - if it is even possible – the sad mess that we are in.

The man shoudl be tried in court for ruining this country.

If labour get back in, expect a continuation of 'smoke and mirrors'. It'll be anyones guess what happens. (And we're buggered)
If Cons get in, they then have a choice of continuing the charade, or pointing a finger at Labour, and making some drastic change. (Probably a bit of both - We're still buggered)
If Lib's get in, then who knows - They have no 'form'. However, I have been impressed by Vince Cable's down to earth, common sense comments. It's a shame he wasn't their leader! OK, looks aren't everything, but you don't have to look oxbridge to run this country. Just look at the sh1t we're in with the recent clowns.
