BBC: Council to cut hundreds of jobs

"Bath and North East Somerset Council has admitted more than 300 jobs will have to go over the next three years.
The council says it is trying to cut up to 5% per year from the annual budget because of the economic climate. "

I posted a similar announcement from Kirklees Council in West Yorkshire some months ago which now seems to have been swept under the carpet.

No doubt local authorities will fight tooth and nail to retain the street football co-ordinators and flatulence fighting facilitators.
