...the reason for posting this is to point out some of the opinions:
1) Jeff Kindler, the chairman and chief executive of drugs giant Pfizer, tells the post-lunch session that: 'if we (business) fail to change, things will not be pretty. And if you think you're exempt, you're wrong.'... Everywhere from business to politics, he says, there's a view that 'questionable ethics are the norm' and 'doing the right thing is considered quaint'. He said 'people have had enough and the backlash is real'.
2) Stephanie Flanders, the BBC's economics editor, takes the temperature of the room with a show hands: "who sees real signs of recovery and who thinks there's a long way to go?" Result: roughly 30pc in the first camp and 70pc in the latter. "Who worries Government spending will be cut too fast and who thinks Government will take too long?" Result: roughly 35pc think the former and 65pc the latter.
and my favourite!...
3) Jim French, teh chairman and chief executive of airline Flybe, was impressed by Brown and argued that Labour shouldn't be written off too quickly. "If the economy continues to recover like it is," he said then "'Brown stands a real chance." ....!!!!!!!!

I don't like it, but from my perspective Brown is winning people over.
Now whether that's because they think he's good, or because they think he's too stupid to stop the money tap is another matter.
I don't know what deal has been struck behind the scenes, but we started this recession with more debt than anyone else and we've created far more than anyone else during it and yet some how all is going to be ok.
Another classic at the moment is stating that houses were massively overvalued in 2007 due to loose lending criteria, yet (in Hampshire at least) prices are now at 2007 levels or above in some cases.

Yes I agree, the profile of the country has been changed completely by the structural government over spend. Will we ever have the stomach to bring it back donw? I fear high inflation will be the current governments solution and it is likely that Cam has not done enough to convince the lazy masses of this once great country. They say you get the government you deserve.
Somehow Brown has got the IMF at the CBI to credit the UK government with the "lead the world" line and to say the UK should keep on spending. This contradicts all recent IMF reports, one wonders whether the Dark Lord was involved....?
We live in strange times.

If the country re-elects Brown then the country deserves all it gets! I almost want to Brown to win so that all the idiots who backed him end up feeling the pain that will inevitably come. This is Brown's mess and maybe people need to know the truth because if he gets in again they are sure going to find out!
