The beleaguered owner of the Threshers off-licence chain is teetering on the brink of administration, putting 6,500 jobs at risk.

Excuse my frankness, but when they sell such sh!te "McWines", is it any surprise?
The offy chains that survive are the ones that sell really nice stuff - Oddbins, Wine Rack, Majestic.
Dumbed down sugary water sold under generic labels won't do.

What with Threshers and Blacks failing it won;t be too long before he High St is bereft of recognized names.

Sneaker - I am inclined to agree. The fact that a chain of shops like this can grow to employ 6500 people just goes to show how much the great British consumer has valued convenience over the last 10 years or so. As the purse strings tighten people will become far more selective about where they shop.
