More Common Sense From Cliff D'Arcy

Lovemoney: Why first-time buyers should think twice

.......as I warned in Get ready for the housing crash part II, despite the recent spring bounce, I expect house prices to resume their downward trend very soon. Hence, I have no plans to buy a house for at least another year -- and I would urge first-time buyers to be equally cautious!

Logical but wrong?

Cliff D'Arcy is being logical. In recent times, unfortunately, speculation and risk taking has trumped caution and common sense. Will D'Arcy and the HPCers prove to have been logical but wrong in another five years again?

The problem is the lack of solidarity among FTB's.

If they formed a buying-cartel and declared a boycott, that would soon sort things out.

I have said often enough since Jan 2008 that I'm waiting at least until late 2010 (which I have mentally pushed back to mid 2011, but don't tell Mrs W!). If everybody said this and meant it, the HPC would be over in six months.

Sybil, what you preach and predict is a fair and logical view, but it just ain't happening. Stay solid and true to your convictions, but you will be a lonely soul counting your ever dwindling pot. That beautiful shelter that was once in your grasp seems to be fading further and further away. Mandy's regeneration road show is building up steam and will be at full pelt come 2010 (not that I like it, but that's reality girl!)

And within a few months we will have an election. Unless Mandy is still in power his successor
is bound to want to rubbish evrything he was going to do.
