Is this just tory spin? Hopefully less property porn..

Yahoo: Tory party in vow to constrain BBC

The BBC will be forced to stick to "core broadcasting" if the Conservatives take government, the party's culture spokesman has said.

Cameron is silly to show his hand this early in the game. The BBC was always NuLabour biased, now its going to cling on for life!

Capping salaries for ex-Labour cronies at £192,000 a year...whatever next?

I'd like to think this is a step in the right direction, but it still looks like spin from the Bullingdon Club's proudest alumni.

Agree with alan.
I would like to see restrictions on the BBC's constant property-ramping and especially on featuring VIs posing as 'experts'.
Bring on mandatory disclosure statements for property VIs and warnings as required for most investments ' Past performance is no guide to future performance'.

a saver - Past performance is no guide to future performance - yes it is, it's a great guide...
Problem is everyone thought past performance is good so future performance will be good. We need honest journalism which would be something along the lines of "Look guys, property prices have been out of control for 10 years so we're probably in for an almighty crash"

I think honesty is only a small part of the problem. A far bigger problem is that journalists are not experts in the matter they are reporting, in fact often clueless. A few nights ago I watched an F1 report where 2x world champion Alonso was given a different name. Clueless. Science articles often reveal a superficial understanding of the topic. Expecting journalists to comment that property prices are out of control, when half the world's economists and governments are saying otherwise simply isn't going to happen until journalists are required to know something.
