The Times: We have averted second Depression, Obama claims
President Obama will declare today that his economic policies have saved America from a second Great Depression, but a tumultuous 48 hours of protests over his massive spending plans could drown out his reassurance.
Mr Obama is due to speak on Wall Street a year after Lehman Brothers collapsed, unleashing a global financial meltdown and the worst economic crisis since the Depression.
