False Flag

The Telegraph: Iran's nuclear ambitions threaten economic meltdown

The biggest threat to recovery in the world economy has long seemed to me to be not that of a further leg in the financial crisis or even the fiscal ruination of developed economies, but some kind of geo-political shock, most likely emanating from Iran.

BROWN: America, the United Kingdom and France are at one. Iran's nuclear program is the most urgent proliferation challenge that the world faces today.

As President Obama and President Sarkozy have just said, the level of deception by the Iranian government, and the scale of what we believe is the breach of international commitments, will shock and anger the whole international community, and it will harden our resolve.

Confronted by the serial deception of many years, the international community has no choice today but to draw a line in the sand. On October the 1st, Iran must now engage with the international community and join the international community as a partner. If it does not do so, it will be further isolated.

And I say on behalf of the United Kingdom today, we will not let this matter rest. And we are prepared to implement further and more stringent sanctions.

Let the message that goes out to the world be absolutely clear: that Iran must abandon any military ambitions for its nuclear program. Thank you.

The shortest distance between the borders of Iran and the coast of England is about 2200 miles. Iran has ambitions to build on its existing missile arsenal which currently consists of missiles with a range of up to 1300 miles. Twenty, ten or even five years from now will you feel safe in your bed at night?

LVMReader, s2r1, I'm afraid I will have to rise to that bait. What does this have to do with house prices? If you could draw a graph showing a neat correlation between house prices and the level of political sabre-rattling, then I would be convinced.....

@drewster,

Care to sell me some options on this "unlikely scenario". I tell you what, I pay you 1p for every 1,000 that you will pay me if we have any sort of shooting war with Iran and/or Russia.

Heh, as if Iran getting ONE single Nuke would be a threat to the U.S. with around 9,000 Nukes.

Iran is bound to try & get Nukes. The U.S. branded it part of the 'Axis of Evil' & then invaded one
of those countries & constantly threatened the other two.

Evil Iran has invaded nobody, whilst the angelic U.S. has overthrown 30-50 Govts since WWII, killing
10-20 million people, on bulls**t cold war pretexts, which justified creating a vast military industrial
complex, reviving a failed State Capitalist economy with Military Keynesianism.

4. sovietuk - I feel allot safer sleeping in the UK (Iran has not attacked a country in the last 300 years) than in Tehran at the moment (the UK has attacked another country in the last 300 minutes)!
