Nice theory. A much simpler one is they did it to arrest the climb of sterling, which they perceived as being deflationary.

A: No. The Bank of England is deliberately trying to prop up the financial system.

Gov wants the banks to lend, which they can't.
Gov gives banks QE money to lend.
Bank's slowly lend money - lent through normal channels.
QE money ends.....back to recession.

Another house bubble will simply mean a bigger bust in a few years time - one that we would never recover from.
