Mole tells all
Mail: One in three Halifax branches 'to close' as Lloyds mole reveals plan for biggest ever bank cull
"More than a third of the Halifax branch network faces closure by its owner Lloyds in one of the biggest bank culls in history.
The move, which immediately sparked bitter criticism, would wipe out 550 small branches and 'agency counters' inside the offices of estate agents, solicitors and financial consultants".

But house prices are going up, there's green shoots of recovery, so these branches must simply be lazy and inefficient.

Every so often, we will get news from the real economy...not the false picture painted by Gordon Brown's propaganda.

this was a given I would have thought under monopoly laws this was always on the cards and will have to be done, in some towns it is now a lloyds town rather than tesco town now..lol

Many more closures to come. How many branches of Abbey, B&B and Alliance & Leicester do we see, within 100 yards of each other, in towns and cities across the country? All to be rebranded by Santander.

I see the Veet ad, top right on the home page, has been replaced. Pity.

@Nomad,
The A&L branch in Stratford, E. London is just a few doors from Abbey. When I walked in, recently, the place was empty of customers and the staff were discussing a potential closure. All the B&B accounts were transferred to Abbey last month.
Its not just the Veet ad which will disappear......

In Christchurch (Dorset) Alliance and Leicester is just across the road from Abbey.
A few yards down the road is the Nationwide. Opposite was a Portman branch which closed
the month they were taken over. Its now a Betting Shop which seems quite appropriate.
