Joined-up government? I think not

The Times: Recession starts to threaten home life

Ministers need to speak to each other and be honest with us. Yes, I know this is like asking Mandy to buy Rata Tata a box of chocolates.
"The Audit Commission reports that Britain is still in the first phase of the recession, which it describes as economic, with output declining and companies failing. But the country is about to face the second, social phase, where growth returns but long-term unemployment triggers a range of housing, health and domestic problems. "
This is hardly the sort of thing that is going to drive a house price recovery.
Add in the issues of ongoing mortgage rate hikes, increasing base rates in 12-15 months and the full impact of sterlings weakness on inflation - and you have a perfect property storm.

Cannot fault the article. Brown and Co. seem to think that if they can somehow prop up house prices all will work out fine. Not so. This country has a lot of problems way beyond housing. People's attitude towards each other springs to mind and that is steadily getting worse.

Only the other day was I parking the car in a multi-story to be confronted by a barrage of abuse by a woman who wanted to drive on past the parking space I was pulling into. The f'ing and blinding was unbelievable and all over nothing. I was parking in a parking space, but she thought it was a through lane, so decided to hurl abuse at me. It would have been a bad enough reaction if I was parking in the wrong place, but the fact she wasn't even following the arrows just made it so much worse.

I am now experiencing incidents like this on a weekly basis and am getting completely cheesed off with it.

"Recession starts to threaten home life". It's not the recession. Stop blaming an innocent recession. Blame it on the depression. And the idiots who caused it. Come to think of it those who are most at risk of threat(s) to their home lives are conceivably those same people who aided and abetted the downfall of the British economy.

So is this news or just mumbo-jumbo double-speak?

How quickly a nation's manner can deteriorate like this! Amazing!
Just fifteen years ago, streets were full of 'sorry' and 'excue me'.

Analysing economically, in a typical bubble economy in which hourly wage/income is soaring, time is really money and people's minds are too occupied by one notion, 'how can I rush and save time?' as 'Three minutes late?, look you've lost three pounds already. The sorry episodes cited above are just another example of this.
