Perhaps you're right. If memory serves, you recently chose to invest in GS.
What prompted you to post this? If I had an idea for a sure fire money maker, I'd keep it quiet. You're not getting a little nervous about your bet I presume? :)

Bellwether's post is a rare demonstration of objectivity. The ability to take a moral stance that goes against your wallet is admirable and always lends more weight to an opinion
Funny enough, I think it will eventual make a difference. Every person who has a meeting with GS will have this Vampire Squid thing lurking in the back of their minds. At one end of the scale, it might cause some people to inwardly snigger during a meeting. At the other end of the scale it might make someone think “can I trust them” or “have these people conned my country”. In the money game people like to deal with outfits that are powerful, beyond reproach and invulnerable. It's not too much of an exaggeration to say that 1 billion people worldwide regard GS with distaste. Can any business remain untouched by a billion bad thoughts? I have a feeling that these obscene profits and bonuses will one day be seen as GS's Gerald Ratner moment

Well yes it's blatantly obvious, it's all around us. Fully agree with what you say although don't hold out much hope of a change in sentiment without some rather ugly scenes. When the time comes for circa 6.7 billion bad thoughts to be reconciled by so many minds in so many people we, at last, may see some positive change. Change, we need. Vulcan, we speak.

QG don't see the contradiction. I don't need to believe in the essential goodness of something to look to make money out of it.Anyway GS are really beside the point, it was the Bush and now Obama Administrations' insistence in handing them opportunity and money at every turn that's the real issue. /Where it's govet job to reresent the electorate, Sachs (Goldman not Andrew) job is merely to make money. They are a vampire squid because government stands for it, indeed encourages it. Fcked up for sure
