God, that's awful. At least from the information he's given it's much more likely to be simple lymphatic swelling from the flu rather than anything sinister. Anyway if you're reading this TC all the best, hope the results are all clear. Look forward to seeing many more of your insightful videos and comments.

Good luck, but having had quite considerable experience of this illness, I know that weight loss and great tiredness are also symptoms. TC didn't look too tired or thin to me, so, let's hope he's fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

TC
When you phoned me on Thursday evening I was watching a cruise liner leave Southampton water.
I wonder what the passengers would have thought if they knew I was on the phone to the TITANIC CAPTAIN.
Now you never told me about all this & having been ill myself I've missed some of the blogging.
I see some mention of swollen lymph glands. Lymph glands swell when they're fighting infection. This is exactly what happened to me, my wife and our youngest (10 months at the time).
It was part of a Strep A infection for us, which on me went invasive (got into my leg and blood stream and nearly killed me).
A course of anti-biotics sorted them out. Don't know your full symptoms but ours started with a very sore throught for a couple of weeks.
Get your doctor to check for Strep A if this sounds similar.
Call anytime.

TC,
Very sorry to hear you've had a health scare. My best advice is: Don't let it get to you..
Many years ago I realised how important attitude is.
In 1981 I was very seriously injured in a road accident in the City of London. Having suffered a head injury (amongst others..) the medical staff did not want to give me a general anaesthetic; so I have fairly complete recollection of the episode; from being scraped off the road, ambulance, casualty, emergency surgery and then to ICU (at Barts).
While in the hospital, a slim nurse kept talking to me (I recall she was from Stoke Newington..). She stayed with me in the ICU, and I recall being totally exhausted and very serene, quite at ease with the notion of discovering the next dimension...
The shift changed, and I remember my nurse whispering to her replacement in anxious terms. The door closed, and I was aware of a much more substantial lady clumping around the room. Then I recall her voice whispering in my ear: 'don't you DARE die on me'
'Yes miss' I thought..
The next I knew I was back in a general ward, 36 hours later...
Specific to your particular problem, I would mention a friend who had a similar scare, years ago, and was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer - he made a total recovery, and has been back piloting 737's for Ryanair for at least five years now.
Take care - and chin up!

An influential person recently described HPC as a 'victim site'. I* think she may be right.
* I'm a victim too.
Perhaps we're all victims.
