LONDON (SHARECAST) - John Kingman, the chief executive of UKFI, the body controlling the government's stake in Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds, has stunned the City by handing in his resignation.

"UKIF is well placed to deliver its mission of protecting and creating value for the taxpayer", he said, as he used his UKIF post to lever himself into a more lucrative job in the private sector.
That mission statement is nonsense anyway. If there was any possibility of 'creating value' the private sector would have come in and done what the government felt it had to do for the banks.
