What a Flippin' Cheek!

Telegraph: Hazel Blears avoided Capital Gains Tax on two properties

Hazel Blears, who has resigned as Communities Secretary, avoided paying capital gains tax on the sale of two 'flipped' properties - not one, as previously thought. ""I want to help the Labour Party to reconnect with the British people, to remind them that our values are their values, that their hopes and dreams are ours too" said Hazel.

Read the article again. It's not new news. Gordon Brown is trying to get back at her for basically forcing a leadership contest by resigning from cabinet so he has had someone release details to one of their trained reporters. She's still a thief but there is more going on here than meets the eye. If you look you will see her very own statement admits to two homes she sold. Lovely smearing by number 10 again to get the heat off GB. Couldn't happen to a nicer or more deserving dwarf though.

"...our values are their values..." Isn't she actually quite right, most people in this country do as much as possible to avoid paying tax, from working cash in hand to trading through spreadbets to avoid CGT. Surely she's just a reflection of British society as a whole and its 'something for nothing' attitude? ;-)

The Labour Party and their closet supporters, like Stephen Fry for instance, do not really believe it to be such a bad thing, stealing expenses.

After all its just a little bit of fiddling, right?

But the truth is, that these politicians blatant thievery, has much further reaching consequences.

For one, housing.

From one side of their grubby little mouths, these politicians were telling us for a decade, that they were doing everything possible to help FTBers get onto the ladder.

But it was all a LIE.

There was NEVER any POLITICAL WILL for house prices to go back to affordable levels, because they were all flipping houses, to make extra money. Theft for profit.

So they just ignored us for a decade. Whilst normal hardworking professionals have lost tens of thousands of pounds being forced to rent.

There need to be civil and criminal Prosecutions, without this, we are no better than a totalitarian regime.

And a massive clawing back of all profits made, pro-rated, with interest and additional damages.

Investigations by the Revenue and the harshest possible punishments, because these are the people who are supposed to set an example.

Maybe they will then begin to understand what it feels like to be punished, for no reason. As we have been.

The Labour Party = Evil.

What happened to the Attlee principal of social reponsibility.
Blears is part of the problem, she should hang her head in shame.

Many may not like it but the Labour party represented a set of noble ideals that of social responsibility, equality of opportunity and an equality of access to power.
Where has all this gone, how can the paty of Attlee, Hardy and Bevan have turned into the party of Brown and Blears?

Where there is a right in poltics we need a left.
And, Crunchy, it is that simple, it's bout time we got back to what we all should be about, poltics without corruption, homes that are not investments and a simple belief in working for one's living, as individuals and as a country.

Notice how the Lord of Darkness asks questions in order to answer them himself:

"Was it inevitable that under this relentless pressure she decided to make her announcement today?"
"Yes, I'm afraid she did".

It's common for there to be a disconnect between a question and a politician's answer to it. But when it's his own question...?

8. gone-to-colombia.... Don't have a problem with the ideas of Attlee they were largely successful,

however I was trying to illustrate how those aims would work within a continental coalition.

I have gathered that you are pro Euro union from yesterday's post. I was being flippant, as you know I am not a fan.

8. gone-to-colombia Simply put...It took a Tory Lady to change social values to a large extent, weaken unions, along the line our

industrial strength diminished thus weakening our economy and then there was the pension grab which has been going on for some time

now. Can you see the perfect storm of greed and speculation developing? Throw in an overbloated banking system with easy credit

promoted by television and the mass media. Hey Presto!

These Mp's are trying to freeload off property like the homeowning voters: they are the voters true representatives.
It is amazing to think that few of them considered when buying places in London how unaffordable they were to people on average wages.
They really think that high house prices are the norm and that doing something about them is beyond their powers.
The television news is back saying that there is hope in the property market of prices going up.The 30's were Auden's low dishonest decade: we have had this kind of dishonesty from all parties over house prices for a generation.

8. gone-to-colombia, For some reason the UK will not get back to industry and innovation, the latter being one of England and Scotlands

past strengths. It seems that everyone now aspires to being middle class whatever that is, D'oh!

Basically people are now ashamed to get their hands dirty and see earning a fast easy buck as a sustainable smart alternative.

That's my take.

Crunchy,

you might be right, but it tke a crisis for people to make real changes.
What is happening now and will get worse in the future could be the crisis that is needed.

Regarding the EU, Britain is too small and weak to ignore it, we have to come to terms and become a complete member.
We can only make changes, to improve the EU if we are seen to be committed and not some sulking 'partner' on the periphery.

An American once likened Britain to me as a thread running through history, sometimes thin, at others broad and strong. Right now that thread is thin and weak to breaking point.

14. gone-to-colombia You are sounding like a salesman closing in on a deal. lol

Britain can be strong again and remain independent. It will take investment in training, innovation, technology and industry.

Property speculators may take a hit or be persuaded to invest in more productive avenues, one hopes. Can you imagine if all that money

which went into property over the last ten years was invested towards the true health of this counties economy.

All we need is a shift in mentality, not really a shift into the Euro which has It's own unique problems.

No deal.... we can be broad and strong again.
