The four "educated" the graduates mentioned in this article studied:

History
Journalism
Graphic Design
Media Production

Hmm, how exactly these "talents" are going to save this country? Aha, I see! First, Journalist will write a ramping story about the huge benefits of unsustainable property price to the society and economy. And then the Historian will draw comparison from past (limited between 2000-2007) to validate the claim that a recovery is imminent. And then the Graph Designer will find a HPI chart and use her innovative skill to explain that how things can defy gravity and never come down. And finally the Media Producer will make 300 episodes of property ladder to spread the truth to the public. And world shall all be saved.

I do feel sorry for these young people. They were all conned into taking these courses by a govt that said it was a ticket to success, so why dont you rack up loads of debt as well. I mean they were only 18 when they made this decision.

It's the easy option generation.

Perhaps they should be forced to study proper subjects like maths and physics?

Sheer survival will soon be the issue, rather than getting on a Property Ladder.
Anyway many of the so called universities in this country should be reconverted back to polytechniques or job training schools, teaching people how to manufacture decent goods, grow veg, and how to run trains on time, or etc. Return to the basic.

"The government is even urging graduates to consider working abroad".

So Gordo's "British jobs for British workers" has been supplemented by "Foreign jobs for British workers".

And which places abroad have escaped the recession? Samoa? Micronesia?

I do feel sorry for these young people. They suffer from "my-teacher-was-too-PC-to-tell-me-I-am-crxp-at-what-I-do" or "my-parents-spoil-me-too-much-to-tell-me-I-am-really-really-just-average-at-the-best" syndrome.

6. japanese uncle ... Rock on.

What did history ever teach Brown, apart from destruction.

A janitor would have been a more productive placement for him.

He would have eventually learnt that history repeats itself. if nothing else.

"Janitor Brown" does have a ring about it.... Sorry!

crunchy - "janitor" comes from "Janus" the god who looks both ways - usually depicted as two-faced.
