Cambridge Evening News: Official empty homes figure is 1,212 adrift

It means 1,583 Cambridge homes - or 3.4 per cent of the city's 46,611 properties - were unused at a time when 7,300 people were registered on the council's waiting list.
The figure is much higher than the Government statistic of 371 announced last year, of which 299 were council-owned.
