HIPs do have benefits !!??

HIP-Consultant.co.uk: Benefits of Home Information Packs (HIP)

Is the tide now flowing in favour of Home Information Packs? A good example of when they have helped, but is this kind of occurence a small minority?

I work in conveyancing. My nom de plume sums up how I feel about HIPs. I read a lot of this tripe produced by HIP providers who have a vested interest in keeping them. These "reports" and "surveys" always say how much of a success they are. As Mandy Rice-Davis once said "well, they would wouldn't they"

Caveat Emptor still applies. Would you spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on a house and rely on information that the seller gives you without checking it? Well neither would I.

All these surveys are carried out in a low volume market. I'd attach as much importance to them as I would to a shaman who claimed that his rain dance caused a downpour. Impossible to verify.
