Just pay it all back like everyone else

Daily Mail: MPs' EXPENSES: The second home shuffle - how Easy Rider Hazel Blears took a short cut on tax

A member of the public would be facing possible criminal prosecution for this potential tax evasion.
MPs saying sorry, just won't cut it this time.
They should pay back their ill-gotten gains with the reduculous HMRC interest rates they charge for back tax.

The exposure of the MP's expenses, in particular those of Za-nu labour and Browns Front Bench highlight their vested interest in the creation of the biggest property bubble in history.
Now we can all see why these greedy creatures did nothing to try to control the double digit inflation in house prices that occured in 2001-2004, because they where too busy sorting themselves out a second ( or third , or fourth............) property all paid for by the british taxpayer. Those that sold these properties have then manipulated the system to avoid CGT.
This behavour if their is any justice should end in a criminal convictions for the guilty.
They have made the UK look like a banana republic.
The sad thing is that the whole nation will now pay for generations to come because of their greed.

sold out... yep. There are a few points to come out of this - all of them tarnish politicians with the same brush. However, CGT primary residence relief has nothing to do with the election of a dwelling for the purpose of the expenses, so we should probably leave that out of the equation and concentrate on the real issue.

1. The much trotted out line - it was within the rules - is complete p1ss taking of the electorate. Who made these rules?
2. Speculating in property is personal responsibility if you do it with your own money OR borrowed money that you are charged interest on at a commercial rate - Fine. When you sell, you PAY IT BACK.
3. Trying to hide the facts under a veneer of Data Protection act legislation is absolutely outrageous. Not only do we pay these people their illegitimate expenses but we cant even found out how much they are into us for?
4. In fact without these facts coming into the public domain i cant see that MPs would have had any incentive to change. Scary!
5. When they say "we are in it to make a difference" i didnt realise they meant to make a positive difference to their bank balances.
6. Yes absolutely they have a massive conflict of interest re house prices.
7. Although i feel a BIT sorry for Harriet having to try to defend the indefensible (im assuming she is not implicated), i havent heard her comment too much about the "court of public opinion". In this case.
8. Is anyone surprised at voter apathy.
9. When brown came in didnt he want to clean up their act? Hypocrisy.

As for the ginger poison dwarf (whoever that may be) its absolutely contemptable that her and her kind can be seriously wanting to take some of the issues to court - yes we were bad just not that bad.

The solution? 75% of LHA as an allowance for RENT or as an allowance against the mortgage purchase, increase their salaries (yes i know - so they can't use that as an excuse). No conflict - i.e. i dont want them setting the median LHA rate. (The LHA is of course a seperate but linked topic). Alternatively just have a BTLrs block near Westminster which is owned by the state for them to live in.
