"something that your spouse will bring up again, and again?”
I wonder what Shiller's marriage is like. His poor old wife arguing away while he notices a pattern between her shouts and economic recoveries. Makes him a more convincing economist.

So we have a so called first world country that been running it economy it seems like a 3rd world country... No industry left so there is very little to actually save or kick start the recovery... a very expensive country to live in... the simple matter of fact is that the UK going to have to experince a shift in the quality of living downward until they reach a postion that they can be competitive with other cheaper countries...then you can get industry back until then more jobs and industry will move offshore... Finally the great empire has been broken by a one eyed man --- Gordon Brown...

Nice for the Times to give us a well thought out and balanced article. I am sure there will be another tomorrow that claims a surge in the UK economy. Oh for the days when there was editorial consistency!

People are never satisfied. Is the job of a newspaper to report the news or to choose one side and stick to partisan commentary? When they do the former people complain about inconsistency and contradiction (missing the point entirely), when they do the latter people complain about bias and prejudice. Ridiculous. If you want editorial consistency, choose a magazine.
"For all those thinking a recovery was imminent, it's not!"
On the say so of one man you've never heard of?
